I like this, great angle and lighting and the reflection really makes it.

Another great shot Andrew - and not a bird in sight!! ;)

A splendid photograph Andrew

Superb

Comment by: Mick on 23rd January 2012 at 09:47

Spoiled by them two pieces of litter floating in the canal.

Comment by: Gareth on 23rd January 2012 at 09:56

When you look at this photo upside down only the path gives it away . Well done !

Comment by: Helen on 23rd January 2012 at 10:01

I really like that...are the apartments on the Trencherfield side of the canal ?

Comment by: Dave on 23rd January 2012 at 12:24

Mick do you look at the negative aspect of every photo i think your glass is always half full.A super photo Andrew thanks for posting.

Comment by: David on 23rd January 2012 at 12:59

Great composure and exposure - that full frame makes a difference.

Comment by: David Barker on 23rd January 2012 at 13:18

Great nightime photo Andrew very clear, and detailed.

Comment by: incer71 on 23rd January 2012 at 13:26

smashing photo andrew, and there is 3 pieces of litter mick, but dont think it spoils the photo

Comment by: Margaret Wall on 23rd January 2012 at 14:01

I don't really think (on this occasion!) that Mick was trying to be negative. The photo is superb but would've been even better if those floating bits in the canal were not there.

Comment by: Harry C. on 23rd January 2012 at 16:29

No nits to pick, I think it's a belter!

P.S. as for the floating rubbish, it is the canal after all.

Comment by: John Morris on 23rd January 2012 at 19:08

A cracking photo Andrew. As for the litter I didn't really notice it but it is unfortunately a sad fact of life when you photograph the canal these days. Unless you dive in and fish it out or "clone" it out in Photoshop you are stuck with it.

A GREAT PIC ONE OF THE BEST YET

Comment by: Alan lad on 23rd January 2012 at 20:39

Mick top fault finder ,why?

Comment by: Bill Eatock on 23rd January 2012 at 21:45

Great photo.
Canal's clean compared to what it was in the 1960's. I remember it was no more than a watery rubbish dump! On our way to school we'd even see dead dogs floating in it.
I read somewhere that the water in the 'cut' is now grade 1...

Comment by: Mick on 23rd January 2012 at 22:09

I just thought it could have been Photoshoped out.

Comment by: Bill Eatock on 23rd January 2012 at 22:30

I use I.P.Plus for improving photo's Mick. Its an old and cheap program I had with Windows 98, but its superb.
It would have soon made the litter disappear!

Comment by: Dave (Oy) on 23rd January 2012 at 22:39

Mick - the number of times you've complained about photos being "touched up" LMAO!

Maybe Andy is attempting to show the juxtaposition between the clean, trendy modern urban housing and the reality of the industrial setting of the waterway in it's original context?

(But yeah I would have photoshopped it out lol)

Nice shot Andy!

Comment by: Andrew Fishburn on 23rd January 2012 at 23:21

Oy's absoloutely right - i liked the irony of the trendy modern apartments against the rubbish in the water ( from a toggers point of view would have liked to see more dumped there to provide a stark contrast!). As a pie eater it always drives me mad seing rubbish tipped about the town but acknowledged Bill's observation that things are cleaner now than in times gone by. The cut was a byword for rubbish dump when i was growing up!

Mick, the litter ads to the photo showing the kind of society that some consider as normal it taday. I find it sad that some people just throw litter on the streets etc instead of using bins.

Comment by: Art on 24th January 2012 at 00:56

Before anybody mentions rubbish, you should see what Mick puts on a plate :o)
"THE" negative poster of WW..:o(

Tek no notice..........He'll never change

If there was a Wigan calendar with Andrew's pictures in there, I'd buy it instantly. Makes our town look quite glamorous in parts ;)
