Wigan must be in constant turmoil...what is going to be there instead, another shopping centre ?
I can remember seeing the words 'Wigan, The Soul (Music)Centre of the North'...seems to me its Wigan's soul that has been ripped out!

I agree Helen, excellent photo but it breaks my heart seeing how Wigan has been mucked about over the years.

I agree with Helen and D, it is heartbreaking the negative changes in Wigan over this past 30 years... The Heart and Soul is gone !!

It's a good pic Bill, my Dad was a driver with Wigan Corp for a number of years, so know the place well..

It's just a building and a tatty one at that! Demolition is way overdue.

I agree with everyone.

P.S. Don't forget though, there is a 'Save Wigan' campaign.

There's no pleasing some folk. Everybody complains abouth the traffic congestion between Pottery Road and Saddle Junction but as soon as they knock down what was, let's face it, an ugly and quite dilapidated building evrybody complains about "the soul" of Wigan being ripped out.

You should ask the bus men who worked there if there glad its been pulled down.

And the answer would be Yes Yes Yes

The biggest eye sore in town is the old police station...what on earth is happening with it,I worked there for almost 30 years....if anything neeeded to be put to the sword its that place...what a mess it must look...smack in the maiddle of the town centre...on the major artery in full view of all visitors. The front half is a listed building it appears and the rest is a jungle!

Workers probably looking for old huge pennies, the price of scrap they would be quids in. Save those red bricks, sell them to the Americans. what age would the building be.

A pathetic half hearted approach to relieve traffic congestion. They started to build a town centre entrance/exit via the failed A225 project and had no back up plan to carry a by-pass down to Jn 25 which would of relieved traffic completely from the built up areas to the motorway.

Another one of Wigan's pathetic half baked white elephant wastes of money that still has to crawl under the narrow railway embankment.

Why didn't they list it? I'd imagine people would have flocked from all over the World to see this depot.. I mean quite frankly, it was a wonder of the World - akin to the Pyramids.

Oh no wait, it was just a bus depot.. People will gripe over anything!
