Old brickworks near the clay pit in Orrell. The building has been abandoned and has fallen into disrepair.

"The building has been abandoned and has fallen into disrepair."

Like most of our poor town, laid waste by year after year after year of blinkered Socialist governance.

Is that Bispham Hall Brick & Tile? They used to make clay drainage pipes there. I've walked passed there and over the fields to Billinge many a time. Good photo, Dan.

They use to have the word "Orrell" engraved in each brick.

How long does it take for photos to appear on photo-a-day once they've been sent by email?

Your right there peterp, it's just like some of the sights that greet visitors or those passing through Wigan town centre, I often wonder what they will think of the town after seeing such sights.

Whereabouts in Orrell is this?

Comment by: Lin on 9th September 2011 at 18:38

Carol, it's in Smethurst Road, just before the Billinge Hospital (that was) site.

It was called Bispham Hall Brick and Terracotta Company. My Dad worked there for a few years.
