Good composition and nicely colorful.

On my travels one day I saw a Landrover that said on the side of it low level aerial photography.

And all as they had was a telescopic pole that could high up with a camera on the top.

I do like the photograph... but that thing is still ugly!

The little park itself is looking very nice, if only it had a fountain in the middle of it! And as usual, a brilliant photograph from you Oy...

I still hates ya however. ;-)

one of the nicer faces of Wigan instead of grot

Great angle and position Dave, everthing captured in this one shot. Wigan parish church, DW stadium and buildings. The Wiend is now a beautiful little spot with lovely gardens. Not so sure about the "face sculpture"? I think another flower-bed in it's place is much more beautiful and inexpensive.

Some work is going on to the left of the photo, lets hope its restoration work and not demolition work.

Great photograph.

Nice photo and the flowers brighten up the area, but I always liked the atmosphere of the old wiend in the 1950'-60's and in Wigan in general at that time. Must be getting crabby in my old age. Well done, Dave. Must get me a larger tripod.!!! What is THAT FACE though?

Love the picture, love the face too. It was Tom Whalleys pet shop and it wasn't on this site but across the way down a little alley.

Excellent Photo spoilt by that scary face..A blot on Wigan town!!

Jean, Tom Whalley,s pet shop was located on the same side just over the hill next to Hewlett street. I remember going there in the late 60s. They moved down the little alley that was between the old salvation army office and Millgate chippy later.

Oh my God there's something new and shiny in the middle of Wigan, what an eyesore!

God help us! A beautiful picture of a nice part of Wigan that is only set to become bigger once the Library is complete and the public space from that joins the Wiend.

I was surfing the net thismorning and stumbled across 100's of photos of Wigam.
I am very impressed with this photo. Everything in the shot has been captured crystal clear and gives me a great snapshop here in Adelaide South Oz. Your beloved Wigam is a very pretty place. I've fallen in love with it.
I really like the composition of the photo, particularly with the face. Front on would have killed the dynamics. Well done and keep up the great work. I hope to get there one day.

Dave, would like to see a photo taken now from same spot and showing piazza and library. How about it?

Comment by: Dave (Oy) on 16th September 2012 at 19:55

Ernest - I have such a photo - taken at sunset. I'll dig it out.

I`d already seen this sunset photo, Dave, but would like one in daylight and showing as much of that on right as the one above i.e.showing Parish Church etc.

Comment by: Dave (Oy) on 17th September 2012 at 08:59

If manage to get up there again I'll take one.

I think when I went to GHSW I was taught that its should only have an apostrophe when it's an abbreviation for it is. Do I remember correctly
