Why has it closed?

It is very sad that such a tourist drawcard like this should be closing. I visited myself a couple of times and thought it was world class and pretty unique. What a shame, it would be one place I would have recommended to any visitors to Wigan.

Places like this tend to glamorize times gone buy. As a 14 year old boy I pushed a handcart like the one in the center of the picture up and down Scholes with sand cement on it .I would sooner forget it .It wasn't like it shows, believe me.

Hi Ron,(im Harold Blinston ex Harold St.) just read your comments on "way we were".I agree, it does glamorize life in those days,in reality it was very different.
I think as we get older we like to look back upon things we remember.the fact that we are able to do that is a bonus.

HI Harold. It certainly is a bonus .I was boasting ,not moaning.

Ron,
Sorry if you read my reply as suggesting you were "moaning".I was'nt. We were mates for what seemed a long time, and I was agreeing wlth your view that the past can glamorize the reality.
