Church on Watkin Street

It's Water Street. Watkin Street was the little road behind Ritz.
The church on Water st is st Georges which was refurbished after a fire in the 1970/80`s.my dad was also christened here in the 1930`s.

My mother was Christened, Confirmed and married at St Georges. I was also Christened and Confirmed there before coming to Australia.
I WENT TO THIS CHURCH AND ITS SCHOOL AS A CHILD.IVE BEEN TOLD ITS NOW THE OLDEST CHURCH WIGAN
I also went to this church and its school as a child. I was also a choir boy in the church for a very brief time, until they made us sing one by one to find out who was singing out of tune. :)
My grand father was the verger at ST George's for many years and was a well known and loved fixture around Scholes. Anybody rember Joe Beck?
