THE ANNUAL White Crow Derian House Quiz Night raised a magnificent £1,360.00 for the Childrens' Hospice at Astley Village.
Supported this time by wiganworld, Wigan's leading local website, and the Wigan Courier newspaper in partnership, Stuart and Helen Birch have been holding the evening in early December for the last five years, and the amount raised has increased every year.
The White Crow donates the entry fees for its regular Thursday quiznight throughout the year to Derian House.
Quizgoers at the popular Worthington hostelry on Thursday December 11th paid £10 a team to enter, with cash prizes provided by the Wigan Courier.
The winning team, 'Wine Kicked In,' repeated their victory of 2007 and also repeated their generosity in donating the £50 first prize back into the pot for Derian House.
Stuart and Helen Birch donated the cost of all Fosters lager sold on the evening to the charity, and quizgoers were served by the glamorous bar staff in fancy dress, and fed hot pasties at the end of an excellent evening which finished with two tense sessions of Bingo....
White Crow resident Quizmaster Steve Walsh generously donated his fee for the evening to the cause, and the large number of competing teams certainly enjoyed a good if frustrating night out with some tough questions popping up throughout.
wiganworld.co.uk founder and webmaster Brian Elsey presented a cheque for Derian House worth £500.00 to Stuart and Helen.
