|Motorcyclist killed in collision
A man has died after his motorbike was involved in a collision in Wigan.
At 8.00pm last night, Friday 17 October 2008, the 35-year-old was riding his Kawasaki ZZR 600 along Bolton Road in Ashton -in-Makerfield when he was in collision with a Fiat Stillo.
The Fiat had been turning right into the junction of Edward Street at the time of the incident.
The motorcyclist suffered serious head injuries in the impact of the collision. An ambulance was called and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were unable to.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 67-year-old driver of the Fiat and her 74-year-old passenger did not require hospital treatment after the collision.
Bolton Road was closed for around four hours following the collision so police could carry out an examination of the scene.
