|Appeal after 14-year-old girl was shot - Wigan
A 14-year-old girl was treated in hospital after being shot at in Wigan.
At around 4pm on 28 May 2008, the teenager was walking along Victoria Road in Platt Bridge when she was hit in the leg with a pellet fired from an air rifle. It is thought the shot may have been fired from some nearby woods.
She was taken to hospital where the pellet was removed and is now recovering at home.
Police Constable Steven Bromley, based at Bamfurlong police station, said: "I do not know why this young girl was targeted but incidents like this are completely unacceptable. She was doing absolutely nothing wrong when she was shot.
"Although she suffered a nasty injury, the fact that someone was out firing the weapon means that injury could have been a lot worse.
"I would appeal to anyone who knows who is responsible to come forward and contact police."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bamfurlong Police Station on 0161 856 7963.
