|Man savagely assaulted - Wigan
Police are appealing for information after a man was savagely assaulted in Wigan.
At about 3.20am on 1 March 2008, police were informed that the victim had been punched and kicked while on King Street.
However, when officers arrived at the scene the victim had disappeared and inquiries are underway to trace him.
The victim is thought to be about 50 years old and was wearing a black and grey cardigan.
The offender is described as a white man, aged about 20 years old and wearing a dark blue jumper, light jeans and black shoes.
Police Constable Clare Hartshone, based at Wigan Police Station, said: "The victim appears to be a frail man and he was assaulted in a sustained and vicious way.
"However, because he had left the scene by the time officers arrived, we have been unable to crime this incident. I would appeal to the victim directly to get in touch and speak to us about what happened that night so we can find and punish the offender. I would like to say to this victim that with your help, we will find the offender and bring him to justice.
"I would also ask anyone who knows anything about what happened to come forward."
Police are appealing to the victim, or anyone who witnessed the incident, to contact Wigan Police Station on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
