Replica gun fired at workman - Norley Hall
Monday 14th January, 2008

A 66-year-old man has been arrested after two Wigan workmen had a replica gun fired at them this afternoon, Monday 14 January 2008.

Just before 1.45pm police were called to Humber Place in Norley Hall following reports that the men had been threatened with the gun.

It transpired that the two men had gone to an address there to fix a resident's boiler but, when one of them entered the house, he had a gun pointed at him and fired.

The gun was not loaded, but made a very loud noise, seriously frightening the workman.

On arrival officers arrested the 66-year-old on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear. They also seized several other imitation, blank-firing guns.

The man remains in custody for questioning, and inquiries are ongoing.
