A Wigan family have paid tribute to a caring mother and grandmother who died in a road traffic collision on New Year’s Eve.
Ellen Harrison, aged 75, suffered multiple injuries after colliding with a single-decker bus on Monday 31 December 2007.
At 10.30am that day, police were called to Warrington Road in Worsley Mesnes, and Mrs Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
Today, Wednesday 2 January 2008, her family have paid tribute to her.
Ellen Harrison was born and bred in Wigan.
She was widowed in 1982 when her husband, John, died and brought up her four children, who are now aged between 42 and 54.
She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Her eldest daughter, Carol Ward, aged 53, said: “Mum was a very caring and family-orientated lady who was always busy.
“She was a housewife who devoted herself to her family and, having brought up us, she actively cared for her own grandchildren.
“She was the rock of the family, full of life and very healthy.
“We’ll all miss her greatly.”
