Norley Hall murder victim identified

The man who died after he was stabbed in Norley Hall has been formally identified.

Darren Catherall, aged 40 of Walter Street, Wigan, was found lying unconscious on Thorburn Road at about 7.15pm on Christmas Day.

He was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary where he later died. A post mortem examination showed that the cause of death was loss of blood.

A murder investigation has been launched and officers from GMP's Major Incident Team are continuing their inquiries.
