Armed Robbery - Abram
Wednesday 3rd October, 2007

Three armed men have stolen a substantial amount of cash from a post office in Wigan.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which happened at Village News, Warrington Road, Abram, at about 10am this morning, Wednesday 3 October 2007.

The men went into the store armed with what appeared to be a handgun and a knife and threatened staff while demanding cash.

The men went behind the counter where they stole a substantial amount of money before running out of the shop and getting into a grey BMW parked outside. They then drove off towards Lowton.

The offenders abandoned the car a short time later on Woodford Avenue, Lowton, and ran down an alleyway at the side of St Catherines of Sienna School.

The offenders are described as aged about 18-years-old and were all wearing dark clothing with their faces covered.

Anyone with any information about the robbery or who saw the car being abandoned is asked to call Wigan CID on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
