|Appeal after man exposes himself to woman and baby
Police in Wigan are appealing for witnesses after a man exposed himself to a 33-year-old woman pushing her baby in a pram.
The victim was walking her dog and pushing a pram containing her seven-month-old daughter along the canalside off Warrington Road, Lower Ince, at around 5.05pm on Friday, 24 November 2006.
She followed the canal bank in the direction of the rugby ground, running in parallel with Darlington Street, when she became aware of someone behind them.
She turned round and at that point the man exposed himself.
The woman walked on but the man again approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.
The victim then shouted for her dog and the man backed away before walking off towards Warrington Road.
She was unhurt in the incident, but left shaken and upset.
The attacker is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall and wearing a black bomber jacket.
The canalside path is a popular route for local people and officers believe someone else could have seen the attacker.
Sergeant Michael Dunne, of Wigan police , said: "This must have been a horrendous ordeal for this woman.
"What makes it particularly shocking is the fact that she was attacked while pushing her baby along in a pram.
"This is a popular walk for local people and at that time of the day we are sure there would be other people about.
"We would appeal to anyone who saw someone acting suspicious around 5pm that afternoon to contact us."
