Man trying to persuade boy into car
Wednesday 15th November, 2006

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man tried to persuade a 13-year-old boy to get into his car in Wigan.

At approximately 4.15pm on Tuesday 19 September 2006, a 13-year-old boy was waiting at a bus shelter on Ashton Road in Golborne, Wigan, when a grey car pulled up at the bus stop and the driver attempted to persuade the boy to get in. The boy refused and the vehicle drove off.

The vehicle is described as a dull grey colour with a "greatest dad" or "world's greatest dad" sticker in the rear passenger side window. The driver has been described as a white man, approximately 50 years old, of slim build, with short grey hair and wrinkly skin, with bags around the eyes. He is described as speaking with a local accent.

A woman was standing at the bus stop when this incident occurred and made a comment about what had happened, before getting on the same Wigan bound bus as the boy. Officers are particularly keen to speak to this woman as she may be able to help with their enquiries. She is described as about 19 years of age with dark hair.

Anybody with any information about this incident is asked to contact PC Myers at Bamfurlong Police Station on 0161 856 7436 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
