Minor injury traffic collision during JJB protest
Thursday 9th November, 2006

At around 11.15am today, Thursday 9 November 2006, police in Wigan were called to the JJB Bulk Warehouse on Challenge Way following reports of a road collision during an industrial demonstration.

It is believed an HGV leaving the site was in collision with the canopy of a promotional trailer which was knocked sideways.

Three protestors stood next to the canopy received minor injuries in the collision. Two men were taken to Royal Albert and Edward Infirmary with cuts and bruises. A woman also received grazes in the incident and declined hospital treatment.

No-one else was injured in the incident and no roads were closed.

Around 100 workers had formed a number of picket lines during the one-day protest.
