Appeal to trace man
Tuesday 7th November, 2006

Detectives in Wigan are appealing for the public's help to trace a man they want to speak to in connection with an incident in the early hours of Monday 6 November 2006.

Officers would like to speak to James Trevor Devenny (25/10/84) of Pryce Avenue in Wigan and are appealing to him, or anyone who knows where he is, to contact them.

Shortly after midnight on Monday 6 November 2006 a 30-year-old man was walking along Chatham Street when he was approached by a man in the street.

The men began to argue and the man then produced a shotgun and shot the 30-year-old in the legs. He then ran away.

The 30-year-old man suffered injuries to his legs and was taken to Royal Albert and Edward Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Enquiries are continuing.

Anyone with any further information on this incident, or who has any further information about James Devenny's whereabouts, is asked to phone Leigh CID on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
