Witness appeal following shooting in Wigan
Monday 6th November, 2006

Detectives in Wigan are appealing for witnesses after a man was shot in the legs in the early hours of this morning, Monday, 6 November 2006.

Shortly after midnight the 30-year-old victim was walking home down Chatham Street with his girlfriend and their two young children after enjoying Bonfire Night celebrations.

The victim was approached by a man in the street and both men began to argue. The offender then produced a shot gun and shot the victim in the legs. He then ran off from the scene.

The victim suffered wounds to his legs and was taken to Royal Albert and Edward Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Enquiries are continuing.
