New picnic areas at Haigh
Tuesday 6th June, 2017

Picnic benches will soon be installed at a number of beauty spots around Haigh Woodland Park to give visitors plenty of space to relax and eat their lunch at the popular tourist destination.

New benches and picnic areas will be added next to the park’s main attractions in close proximity to the Walled Gardens and Kitchen Courtyard, giving visitors easy access to enjoy the park.

With a number of weddings set to take place at Haigh Hall Hotel, newlywed couples will be able to have their photographs taken near the main driveway, giving them spectacular settings to capture the special day for the rest of their lives. These new picnic areas will give them the privacy to enjoy their special day, while allowing visitors to continue enjoying the beauty of the park.

Since opening, Haigh Woodland Park has proved a huge hit with visitors, with popular attractions such as the Kitchen Courtyard, adventure playground, adventure golf and high ropes, alongside the Friends of Haigh Woodland Park’s traditional crazy golf course drawing in the crowds.

Expressing his support for the picnic areas, David Hanbury, chair of the Friends of Haigh Woodland Park, said:

“It will be a big boost to the park to have new picnic areas close by to the playground and our crazy golf course, making it an even more enjoyable day out. Since the improvements started we’ve all enjoyed more people visiting our fantastic park and long may that continue.”

Keith Bergman, general manager at Haigh Woodland Park, added:

“This is an excellent opportunity for us to make better use of some really attractive areas of the park, especially as the area near the Walled Gardens and Kitchen Courtyard offer such easy access to amenities for families. It will be a huge benefit to visitors to have more designated spaces to relax and have picnics, adding to the community feel created inside the park.”
