|Report It app launched
It is easier than ever to report environmental issues like flytipping and graffiti thanks to Wigan Report It, a new mobile phone app which is free to download.
With GPS signals it is easy to send the location of the problem while reporting it and taking a picture on a phone with a description of what the problem is as long as it is on public land.
And from there the app shows all reports logged by a person along with the current status of the enquiry.
Issues such as abandoned bins, broken glass or a spillage on the road, damaged street litter bins, fly-tipping, dog fouling and graffiti can all be reported through the mobile link.
The app is the newest way to let people get in touch with Wigan Council and have their say. As part of The Deal people are being urged to go online to report problems. Already many have been using other online tools such as MyAccount and the website page www.wigan.gov.uk/reportit pages to keep track of council tax payments and report issues such as missed bins.
Alison Mckenzie-Folan, director for transformation at Wigan Council, said: “So many people now wouldn’t dream of going anywhere without their mobile and thanks to the latest technology residents can help us by reporting issues such as fly-tipping.
“This new app is a great way to get involved in The Deal and for residents to let us know what needs tackling in our communities. The Report It App compliments the council’s MyAccount and website as easy ways to let us know what your issues are 24 hours a day.
“So get online, download the app and get involved in The Deal.”
