|Silver for Wigan and Leigh Homes
Local housing company, Wigan and Leigh Homes (WALH) has won silver at the prestigious Apprenticeship 4 England Awards 2015.
The annual awards ceremony, which is in its second year, recognises those organisations and training providers who go the extra mile to provide top quality apprenticeships. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony in London earlier this month (Tuesday 3rd March) just before National Apprenticeship Week (Monday 9th Friday 13th March).
Since their apprenticeship programme began, WALH and their contractors have employed more than 100 apprentices, many of whom have gone on to secure permanent positions. As part of the Deal for tenants, 12 apprentices will be employed at any one time through the programme.
Janice Barton, chief executive of WALH, said:
I am absolutely delighted with our award. We are passionate about investing in apprentices and its wonderful to receive recognition for our hard work.
Councillor Chris Ready, cabinet member for housing at Wigan Council, said:
Id like to congratulate Wigan and Leigh Homes for their award and thank them for their commitment to providing first class training opportunities to many of our young people.
