First Folk Forward – Folk Sundays at The Old Courts
Monday 19th January, 2015

Sunday 25th January will be the first night of ‘Folk Sunday’ at The Old Courts on Crawford Street, Wigan. Folk Sunday at The Old Courts will become a monthly event which will occur on the third Sunday of every month.

The monthly event will feature a selection of traditional, acoustic, modern, and commercial Folk music from; Chonkinfeckle, Degsy and Malcom Kaye. There will be open mic throughout the day with musicians and also strangers to folk music encouraged to join in.

The duo from Wigan, Chonkinfeckle are known for their performances on the ukulele, harmonica, percussion and tub bass, have had local and national TV and radio success.

Rebecca Davenport from The Old Courts said ‘’we are really excited about this monthly event and we love this style of music. The following for Folk music is growing and it’s starting to become fashionable again. We’ve got quite an impressive line-up for our first event and are currently in talks with other bands and musicians for our next one’’.
