Appeal for witnesses after a man was attacked and robbed in Wigan
Thursday 21st August, 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked from behind and then robbed, in Worsley Hall, Wigan.

At about 10pm on Friday 8 August 2014 the victim was walking along Heather Grove when a man approached him from behind and knocked into his shoulder. He then began to threaten the victim, before stealing his bag of shopping.

The man is described as white, about 25-years-old, 6ft tall and has a round-shaped face and short, light coloured hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and spoke with a Wigan accent.

Detective Constable Andrew Hill of Wigan Division said: "This was an aggressive and unprovoked attack and the victim is understandably extremely shaken by what happened.

"The victim managed to run away but innocent members of the public shouldn’t feel in fear of walking alone in Wigan.

"We are urging anybody who may have any information or may have seen the offender to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
