|A woman has died following a collision in Wigan
Emergency services were called to Ormskirk Road in Wigan at about 12.45am on Sunday 20 July 2014, to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and two taxis.
On arrival officers found a 20-year-old woman trapped underneath a black Skoda Octavian Taxi, officers from GMFRS rescued her from underneath the car and she was taken to hospital.
She sadly died in hospital a few hours later.
Initial enquiries have established that shortly before the collision there had been an altercation between the woman and a 20-year-old man.
She found herself in the road and was hit by two cars, both of which were taxis.
Ormskirk Road is closed in both directions and will be for the next few hours.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of 47 assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Paul Rollinson from Wigan division, said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with this young woman's family and friends at this tragic time while they come to terms with their loss.
“We are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information about what happened before, to call us with any information.”
