|Event to mark Civic Sunday
Mayor of Wigan Borough and Mayor's Consort
The Mayor of Wigan Borough, Councillor Phyll Cullen, and Mayor’s Consort, Terry Cullen, will lead the annual Civic Sunday celebrations on Sunday 15th June.
Each year, soon after the annual mayor making ceremony, the new mayor attends a Civic Sunday Service at a church of their choice.
Councillor Cullen, who took over Mayoral duties from Councillor Billy Rotherham earlier this week, has chosen to hold her Civic Sunday service at St Andrew’s C of E Church on Mort Street in Springfield, WN6 7AU.
The new Mayor said: “I am looking forward to the celebrations. St Andrew’s C of E Church is very close to my heart and is the perfect venue to hold this. It is the start of what I know will be an exciting year ahead.”
Local band, Old Hall Brass Band will lead the procession outside the church from 10am. The public service will start at 10.45am.
Among those joining the parade will be the Royal Armed Forces (RAF), Guides, the former mayor and mayoress, the deputy mayor and mayoress, the Leader, chief executive and senior officers of Wigan Council.
