Green-fingered enthusiasts are invited to dig out their trowels and take part in this year’s annual gardening competition, organised by Wigan and Leigh Housing.
The competition launched earlier this month at Hindley Community Allotments. The rules have changed slightly this year to include allotment entries.
Organised by a group of tenants and residents, the competition is open to all council tenants and residents on Wigan and Leigh Housing estates.
Sponsored by local businesses Magnum Furniture, Moss Bank Nurseries, Breheny Security and Wigan Borough in Bloom, the standard of this year’s entries is expected to be as high as ever.
Jo Bennett, tenant board member for Wigan and Leigh Housing and a member of the Better Neighbourhoods Group, says: “Well looked after gardens improve the look of every estate and this competition is designed to say thank you to the thousands of tenants and residents who help us make sure our estates are pleasant places to live.”
To enter the completion, applicants must complete an application form, which can be found at www.walh.co.uk and return to email@example.com or by post to Wigan and Leigh Housing, Freepost, WN5 326, Wigan, WN3 4BR.
The closing date for entries is Friday 20th June 2014. Judging will start on 7th July 2014 and the awards will be presented at a special presentation evening in September.
