Man robbed in own home - Ashton-in-Makerfield
Wednesday 14th May, 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in his own home in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.

At about 10pm on Sunday 4 May 2014 three men knocked on the door of a man’s house on Hilton Street. When the man answered, the men forced their way into the house and demanded to know where cash was. One of the men then hit the victim on the head, before stealing a safe and leaving. They were seen to run off along Hilton Street and then turned onto Ladysmith Avenue, where they disappeared out of sight.

One of the offenders is described as between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in, of medium build and spoke with Liverpudlian accent. He was wearing a thick outdoor coat and had the hood up.

Another of the offenders is described as having a Liverpudlian accent and was wearing dark blue woollen gloves.

Detective Constable Rachel Forsythe of Wigan Division said:

“The victim opened his door to be confronted by three men who then attacked him in his own home. He is understandably very shaken by the event and we want to catch these men as soon as possible.

“We’re asking anyone who may know who is responsible for this robbery or who may have seen a three men acting suspiciously in the area to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information should call 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
