Sign up for first ever Wigan Workplace Games
Wednesday 30th April, 2014

GATHER your colleagues and sign up for a day of fun and friendly sporting competitions as part of the inaugural Wigan Workplace Games.

The event, organised by WLCT, takes place at Robin Park Arena and Sports Centre on Saturday 17 May.

Jane Hynes, of WLCT, said: “We’re encouraging local workplaces to take inspiration from the success of Wigan Borough’s professional teams and come together for this sporting event. It’s guaranteed to get you active, bond with your work mates, and enjoy a little healthy competition at the same time!”

Workplaces wanting to get involved need to choose their sports and recruit their teams for the following competitions – mixed badminton (sponsored by Lowri Beck), mixed rounders (sponsored by Wigan & Leigh Housing), men’s 5-a-side football (sponsored by Wigan Athletic Community Trust) or women’s netball (sponsored by Speedy Hire). You can have as many people as you wish in your squad for each sport.

The competition is only £5 per person for all sports (£4 for Active@Work businesses) and this includes competition entry, a certificate for every team member and a goody bag. Plus there will be a trophy and prize for the winning team in each sport. Food and drink will be available on the day at Cafe Life in Robin Park Sports Centre.

All entries need to be received by 5pm on Friday 9 May and there are limited places available in each competition, so start recruiting your teams now!

If you are interested in some pre-event training sessions, WLCT’s Back to Sport team can help you get up to speed. Contact Richard on r.smith@wlct.org to see what is available in your area.

To enter a team, download a registration form and competition rules from our website www.getactivewiganandleigh.co.uk/active-living-programmes/activework/ or call the booking line on 01942 488481.
