|Street dancers are putting on a show
YOUNG people who take part in street dance sessions in Wigan and Leigh are putting on a special musical-themed festival on Friday (28 March).
A group of 150 performers, aged 8 -16, will be showcasing their skills at the Rose Club (Monaco Ballroom) in Hindley.
All those taking part attend regular street dance sessions run by WLCT – which carries out leisure and culture services on behalf of Wigan Council – in partnership with Wigan and Leigh Housing.
Wigan & Leigh Housing Director of Tenancy Services, Vicky Bannister said: “It’s great to see so many young people participating in events like these, learning new skills, meeting new people and keeping active. The Better Neighbourhood Fund is available for events just like this.”
Katie Shone, of WLCT’s Sports Development team, said: “The festival gives the young people a chance to showcase the work they do in the sessions and come together to put on a show for the local community. It’s going to be a great celebration of street dance!”
