Take on the challenge for Sport Relief
Monday 10th March, 2014

CHARITY champions across Wigan borough will be getting active this month to change the lives of people across the globe – and they want you to join them.

Leisure and culture provider WLCT is hosting two events for Sport Relief, which runs from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 March.

Members of Profiles gyms are invited to take part in The Fastest Mile challenge on Friday 21 March, which will see contenders compete to see who can complete the fastest mile on the treadmill. Cost to take part is a donation to Sport Relief, and the winning male and female will win a free month’s membership.

On Sunday 23 March, the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is back following last year’s successful event that saw more than £11,200 raised in sponsorship by over 600 participants. Runners can complete one, three or six miles at Robin Park Arena or Leigh Harriers and Athletics Club.

Stuart Murray, Chief Executive at WLCT, said: “We’re working to get people active and healthy, and Sport Relief offers the perfect opportunity to do just that while raising money for a fantastic cause at the same time. It’s also a chance to put Wigan on the map by showing what we can achieve as a borough when we all pull together – so dust off those trainers and help us make a difference!”
