Two men arrested following Wigan assault
Tuesday 4th March, 2014

Two men have been arrested following an assault in Wigan.

At around 4am on Sunday 2 March 2014, a 26-year-old man was in a verbal altercation with three men at Ibiza Bar on King Street.

A fight erupted outside between the 26-year-old and one of the men. Others in the group got involved and the victim was punched in the face a number of times.

The group of men left the man in the road and ran away up Kings Street in the direction of Wallgate.

The 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious injury to his eye and eye socket which he continues to receive treatment for.

Two men, aged 21 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and have been police bailed till 28 April 2014 pending further enquiries.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Peter Carletti from Wigan division, said: “While we have made two arrests we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to speak to police.

"You might not have seen the actual attack but you may have seen a group of white men running away. I would urge anyone who thinks they may know who is responsible to come forward and speak to us.”
