Images released following assault - Wigan

Police have released images following an attack on a man in Wigan.

The 25-year-old man was on Wallgate in the town centre at around 4.15am on Friday 15 November 2013 when he was approached by a man.

He then proceeded to punch him in the face before walking off, leaving him with facial injuries.

The offender is described as being white, around 25 years old, had short dark hair with a small section of hair missing on the top of his head, wore a dark jacket and dark trousers.

Detective Inspector Martin Reddington based at Wigan Police Station said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack on a member of the public who had simply been enjoying a night out. The offender just walked up to him and for no reason, punched him in the face.

“We have managed to obtain a clear image of a man we are looking to speak to in connection with the assault and I would appeal to anyone who recognises him to contact police. I would also make an appeal to the man himself to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 7124 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
