It’s all ‘app’ening in Wigan libraries
Monday 25th November, 2013

BOOKWORMS can take advantage of a new app that makes using their local library easier than ever before.

The Wigan libraries app is free to download and offers customers a range of services, from finding their nearest WLCT library and checking its opening hours to searching for books in the library catalogue and placing reservations.

Rob Sanderson, Service Development Manager at leisure and culture provider WLCT, said: “The app allows customers the complete library experience with added benefits. Not only can they check their accounts, they can also find quick links to resources and follow us on social media.

“And on top of all this, if you find a book in a shop or a library that isn’t run by WLCT, you can scan its barcode using your smartphone and check to see if its one we stock.”

Cllr Chris Ready, Cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “I’m really pleased to see the libraries app launched. This gives residents a modern way to keep up to date and communicate with their local library, and it can be done on the move and at the click of a button.”
