Fitness fans get on their bikes for Children in Need
Monday 11th November, 2013

MEMBERS of WLCT leisure centres will be taking on an exciting charity cycling challenge this week.

They’ll each be taking on 30 minute slots on exercise bikes over 15 hours to support BBC Children in Need and to see which site can complete the most miles!

The event takes place on Friday 15 November, between 7am-10pm, within the Profiles gym facilities at the centres in Wigan, as well as those in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire and Selby, North Yorkshire which are managed by leisure provider WLCT on behalf of the local councils.

Stuart Murray, Chief Executive of WLCT, said: “Everyone who has signed up has sponsorship forms and there is some healthy competition between our sites so those taking part will be really pushing themselves to the limit! We’re all about keeping people active and this challenge will help keep our gym members fit while also raising money for a really worthy cause. Good luck to everyone involved!”

Cllr Chris Ready, Cabinet Member for leisure and culture, said: “Well done to WLCT for organising this special fundraiser for the Children in Need charity. I’m sure everyone taking part in Wigan will do our borough proud and I’ll be rooting for one of our local centres to come top of the table in the cycling challenge!”

Anyone interested in doing the challenge should contact their local WLCT leisure centre for details. To find out more about WLCT leisure centres and activities, please visit www.wlct.org
