|Jools set to jazz it up in Wigan!
MUSIC maestro Jools Holland has been confirmed as the star act headlining The Wigan International Jazz Festival 2014.
The popular composer, pianist, bandleader and broadcaster will be performing with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, featuring original Squeeze band member and drummer Gilson Lavis and special guest star Marc Almond, with guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall.
The show takes place at Robin Park Indoor Sports Arena on Thursday 10 July 2014, at the start of a four day jazz spectacular which promises to be a treat for music lovers across the region.
Jools said: "This will be my first time playing in Wigan and I'm really looking forward to being part of the jazz festival."
Ian Darrington, Director of Wigan International Jazz Festival, said: “We are extremely excited to have signed Jools Holland and his guests for the festival and are really looking forward to welcoming them to Wigan in what looks set to be a fantastic summer for live music in the borough. I’d encourage fans to book their tickets quickly as seats for this gig are sure to sell out fast!”
Jools will join a long list of world class stars such as Diana Krall, The Count Basie Orchestra and Frank Sinatra Jnr to have performed in Wigan since the inaugural Festival in 1985.
Tickets for the Jools Holland gig go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday 12 November, at 10am. Prices range from £33 to £79 for a VIP Experience which includes front of stage seating and a meal with wine.
