Competition to capture the best of the borough
Monday 16th September, 2013

A photo competition to capture the “best of the borough” has been launched as part of Wigan Council’s “Believe” campaign.

Residents are invited to enter photographs that show the wonders and beauty of Wigan Borough through a lens. It’s part of the successful “Believe” campaign, which aims to encourage people to take pride in where they live.

The competition is made up of four categories - community life, flowers and plants, wildlife and landscape. A judging panel will pick a winner for each category, with the winning photographer getting £250. The public will then be asked to choose their favourite of the four category winners, with the ultimate winner photographer getting a further £250.

Lord Peter Smith, Leader of Wigan Council, will head the judging panel. He said: “I am really looking forward to judging this competition and seeing the borough through our residents’ eyes. The Believe campaign is more than just winning trophies, it’s about focussing on the positive things and how great Wigan Borough really is.”

The competition launches today (Monday 16 September) and closes on Friday 11 October. More information can be found at: www.wigan.gov.uk/photocomp2013
