The crowds also enjoyed taking photos alongside the huge giant deck chair and giant bucket and spade too!
Karen Cox, marketing manager of The Galleries said:
“The 2013 Galleries Summer Beach has attracted over 9,500 visitors in the 4 weeks it has been open! The Summer Beach and all its activities have been hugely popular with our shoppers, providing free summer fun during the school holidays. We are appealing to our shoppers and businesses to help us support our local hospice and raise much needed funds for them.”
The Galleries Free Summer Beach is in its final few days, open daily 10am – 5pm until Sunday (1 September) providing a haven throughout the summer school holidays in the centre of Wigan, with 10 tonnes of sand, palm trees, deckchairs and decking, the beach is the perfect treat to enjoy a break from shopping.
Wigan & Leigh Hospice Community fundraiser Julie Houston added: “Wigan & Leigh Hospice would like to thank The Galleries for their continued support. What a great way to remember the hugely successful Galleries Summer Beach and raise money for Wigan & Leigh Hospice at the same time!”
Wigan & Leigh Hospice provides free care for around 1,000 new patients every year. The Hospice relies heavily on the generosity of people in the local community and beyond who have supported them since the first patient was admitted into the first Wigan Hospice in Poolstock on the 12th September 1983. The new building in Hindley (with the name change to Wigan & Leigh Hospice) opened its doors in December 1997.
