Old road train at Haigh Country Park
RIDE the grounds of Haigh Country Park on a road train this weekend as part of a fun-filled family event.
The Friends of Haigh Country Park Festival, supported by leisure and culture provider WLCT and Wigan Council, takes place on Sunday 25 August, from 11am-4pm.
The road train is providing a special attraction on the day, offering nostalgic trips around the grounds at a cost of just £2. The train will be running thanks to a joint venture by the Friends group and Aspull, Whelley and New Springs councillors.
John Hulme, Chair of the Friends group, said: “We’re really looking forward to the festival, which will give us the chance to showcase some of the fantastic activities available on site including the newly refurbished crazy golf course which has already proved a hit with visitors coming to the park this summer.
“We’re also excited to see a road train back on site as many people will have memories of the old train that used to run from the Plantation Gates to the front of the hall. I’d encourage people to come along to enjoy a great day out and see what’s on offer at Haigh.”
Other attractions include live music in the Stables Courtyard, a variety of stalls, Himalayan Golf, the Model Railway Society, Haigh Miniature Railway, face painting and a hog roast and barbecue.
