Proms set to hit all the right notes with park-goers
Last year's Mesnes Park proms

ENJOY some traditional pomp and circumstance at this year’s Proms in the Park events.

The music and firework extravaganzas will take place at Mesnes Park, in Wigan, on Saturday 31 August and at Pennington Hall Park, in Leigh, on Saturday 7 September.

Joanne Ramdewor, of WLCT, said: “Proms in the Park are always popular events so I’d encourage people to book their tickets now while there’s still time! We can guarantee dazzling nights of live classical music from Tyldesley Brass Band and some fantastic fireworks to really put the icing on the cake.

“These events are a great chance for families and friends to come together and enjoy an evening that really celebrates our British musical heritage.”

The event promises a mix of traditional tunes such as Land of Hope and Glory and the National Anthem alongside more modern music from cartoons and musicals. Professional singer Tom Barber-Redmore will also be performing.

Visitors are invited to bring picnics, chairs and flags to the events. Refreshments will be available on site. Those attending should arrive at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

Tickets cost £8 (advance) or £10 (on the door), and half price for children. Call the box office on 01942 828 271.
