Man wanted for theft in Standish

Police have released an image of a man wanted after a charity cash box was stolen in Standish.

At around 1am on Sunday 14 July 2013, a man drinking in the Boars Head pub on Wigan Road refused to leave when it closed.

When he eventually left he took a charity box from the bar.

The man is described as white, medium build and around 5ft 10in tall. He has a bald head and a tribal tattoo on his right upper arm. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a black ‘Police’ logo on the front.

Police are appealing for information and have released an image of a man wanted in connection with the theft.

Police Constable Vanessa Edwards from Wigan Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “It is not known how much money was inside the charity cash box but it had been on the bar for a number of months.

“It is thought this man was new to the area. If you recognise him please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 7124 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
