Time to play at Haigh!
Monday 5th August, 2013

CHILDREN can enjoy a selection of free fun activities all in one place when Haigh Country Park celebrates National Play Day on Wednesday (7 August).

The play extravaganza, aimed at youngsters aged five-13, offers everything from giant junk modelling and pond dipping to Victorian games and crafts, plus a range of sports and dance activities all on site. Entertainment also includes birds of prey displays, face painting and a climbing wall.

Stuart Murray, Chief Executive at leisure and culture provider WLCT, said: “This year we’re showcasing a range of activities for children of all ages against the backdrop of Haigh Country Park, which is a great place to hang out and play. There’ll be the chance to try new things, be active and creative, and make new friends – all the ingredients for a fantastic day out!”

Cllr Chris Ready, Cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “It’s really important that we provide outdoor play opportunities for children and the National Play Day celebration does this on a huge scale. Whether you want to try your hand at archery or golf, or join in arts and crafts sessions, there is something for everyone.”

The event takes place at Haigh Country Park between 10.30am-3pm. For more details, contact Chris Hayes at christopher.hayes@wlct.org or on 01942 487630.
