|Change of date for Wigan Borough Sports Awards
PEOPLE attending this year’s Wigan Borough Sports Awards are advised that the event will now be held on Friday 6 September.
This annual celebration of local sporting heroes was due to take place at the DW Stadium on Thursday 5 September but has been moved following the announcement that Wigan Warriors’ last game of the season has been scheduled for the same night.
Lizzie Gough, Sports Development Officer at leisure and culture provider WLCT, which organises the event, said: “Moving the date to Friday removes the potential for parking and noise issues, and allows any Wigan Warriors fans the chance to enjoy the climax to the rugby league season before enjoying the sports awards the following night!
“The event is looking set to be the best so far, with more nominations than ever before and a great line up for the evening.”
The Wigan Borough Sports Awards take place at the DW Sports and Fitness Lounge at DW Stadium between 6.15pm-12 midnight. The evening will include the presentation of nine awards, a three course meal and guest speakers, including International Rugby League Player Kris Radlinksi MBE.
Winners on the evening will be invited to attend the Greater Manchester Sports Awards on Friday 8 November in Manchester.
There is still time to book tickets for the event. If you would like to attend, please contact Lizzie on 01942 404995 or at firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday 5 August.
