Get active at sports day
Monday 29th July, 2013

ADULTS with disabilities are invited to try a selection of activities at this year’s Active Choices Sports Day.

The event takes place at Leigh Harriers Athletics Track on Wednesday 31 July, between 10am-2pm, and offers sports including boccia, shoot-out, kurling, 100m sprint, javelin, long jump, high jump and a bike race using adapted bikes.

Elanor Reynolds, Active Living Officer at leisure and culture provider WLCT, said: “Each event lasts around 20 minutes and people taking part can compete in as many events as they want. This is a great opportunity to try something different, meet new friends and have fun!”

People wishing to take part can turn up on the day. Suitable athletic clothing must be worn and you are advised to bring lunch and a drink. A quiet zone will be available at the track so people can relax and enjoy the healthy snacks available at the tuck shop.

At the end of the day there will be a presentation where everyone will receive a certificate of participation.
