New healthy food bistro to open in Platt Bridge
Friday 19th July, 2013

A new bistro in Platt Bridge, Wigan will be serving up healthy dishes five days a week when it officially opens its doors next week.

On Monday 22nd July, the Food Positive Bistro, based at the Platt Bridge Community Zone, will be holding a barbecue to celebrate its official opening.

Platt Bridge Community Zone was awarded funding to open the bistro by Abram Fairshare, a community development programme managed by Forever Manchester which aims to help boost the health and wellbeing of residents in the borough. As well as serving up healthy dishes, the bistro will also hold healthy eating cookery classes.

Once open, the bistro will serve good quality healthy meals five days a week, from Monday to Friday between 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Councillor David Molyneux, cabinet member for economy at Wigan Council, said: “Wigan Council is always looking to improve the health of the local community. The Food Positive Bistro will give local residents the opportunity to eat healthily at the bistro and at home.

"I’m looking forward to the bistro’s launch and I hope residents of the borough are able to come along and enjoy the food and drinks available.”
