Young people can kick-start media careers
Tuesday 9th July, 2013

Young people across Wigan Borough are being given the chance to kick-start their media career thanks to an exciting opportunity with Channel 4.

The broadcaster will host a “4Talent” event at Wigan Youth Zone on Wednesday 17 July. They are on the look-out for young people with a passion and talent for the media.

The day will include three creative workshops giving budding media professionals a chance to boost their acting, presenting and journalism skills and learn more about social networking, gaming, advertising and directing. It’s been organised with the support of Wigan Council.

Channel 4 and leaders from local creative industries will be on hand to provide expert advice on the skills, experience and attitude needed to get noticed in the industry, and will also be revealing secrets on how to build a career in media.

Longer term work experience opportunities with Channel 4 will be on offer to all attendees, along with further information about their apprenticeships, internships and production traineeships. There will also be details about any local opportunities available in the industry.

If you are aged between 16 and 25 years and are keen to break into the media industry, visit 4talent.channel4.com/4talent/4talent-days and apply to take part. The event is free to attend, and applications close tomorrow (Wednesday 10 July).
