New trustees complete the Healthwatch board
Tuesday 9th July, 2013

The final four trustees to join Wigan’s Healthwatch Board have been named.

Philip Woods, Tony Bishop, Annmarie Stone and Diane Kay are the latest members to join the board. They will now join the other seven board members and Chair, Sir Ian McCartney to look after the health needs of local people. Healthwatch is an independent watchdog with the power to influence how NHS and social care services are planned and improved in the borough.

Sir Ian McCartney said: “We had a number of very good candidates but the four chosen by the independent panel bring a range of skills and diversity that not only complement the existing Trustees but also provide Healthwatch Wigan with a rich source of experience and geographical representation.

"I would like to welcome the new members to the Healthwatch Board and look forward to us all working in partnership to improve health and social care services for the people of Wigan Borough.”

Lord Peter Smith, leader of Wigan Council, said: “It is good news that Healthwatch has appointed its full complement of trustees and has managed to recruit from a range of experiences. I hope that Healthwatch will now be better able to represent the interests of patients and their families.”
