|Wigan Borough Sports Awards – it’s not too late to nominate!

THERE’S still time to get your nominations in for the prestigious 13th annual Wigan Borough Sports Awards.
The event, organised by leisure provider WLCT, rewards and recognises the work of voluntary sector coaches, clubs and volunteers, as well as celebrating the achievements of local athletes. This year the ceremony will take place at the DW Stadium on Thursday 5 September.
Lizzie Gough, Sports Development Officer at leisure provider WLCT which organises the event, said: “Wigan Borough Sports Awards provide a fantastic opportunity for us to say thank you to all those people who volunteer time to support their local sports clubs and to mark the achievements of some of Wigan’s rising stars.
“I’d encourage people to let us know about those clubs or individuals who they think deserve recognition - it’s not too late to get your nomination in!”
This year’s categories are:
- Coach of the Year
- Club of the Year
- The Wilf Brogan Unsung Hero in Sport Award
- Sports Achiever of the Year
- Volunteer in Sport of the Year
- Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year
- Team of the Year Award
The closing date for nominations is Friday 5th July 2013.
