|Better Bathrooms in Pole Position for the Red Bull Soapbox Race
'Bath Mobile' Design
Red Bull’s hunt for the nation’s best homemade soapbox is over, with 70 teams selected to do battle this July 14th at Alexandra Palace, in an outrageous downhill race against the clock.
Better Bathrooms, the multi-channel bathrooms & tiles retailer with stores in Manchester, Warrington and Wigan, have been successfully shortlisted from thousands of hopeful applicants for this summer’s event, with their aptly named ‘Bath Mobile’.
Utilising their award winning bathroom knowledge, the Better Bathrooms team wowed Red Bull Soapbox judges with an innovative and recognisable ‘Bath on wheels’ creation, complete with water spewing shower and giant baby drivers. Creating a miniature remote controlled ‘Bath Mobile’ prototype, paired with a comedic homemade video helped highlight the retailer’s creativity and sheer outrageousness, both desirable traits of the Red Bull brand. Packaging the entry in the form of a children’s game helped their imaginative design come to life whilst giving the judges endless hours of entertainment and ultimately securing their place.
With the event just a few months away, Better Bathrooms must bring their ‘Bath Mobile’ vision to life and create a homemade, non-motorised vehicle fit for racing.
Fuelled solely by the force of gravity, sheer courage and Red Bull, each team will be judged on three criteria – speed, creativity and showmanship.
Colin Stevens, Founder and Managing Director of Better Bathrooms said: “Better Bathrooms are thrilled to have been shortlisted for such an exciting race that is the Red Bull Soapbox. The event encapsulates our team’s dynamic and creative nature with us able to display our imagination to its fullest with the creation of the ‘Bath Mobile’. We aim to wow not only in our driving skills but also win over the crowd, with a few tricks definitely up our sleeve to hopefully secure our place in Red Bull history.”
The international event brings together the creations of both amateur drivers and experienced racers in a bid to be crowned Soapbox champion 2013. First held in Brussels in 2000, Red Bull have held more than 40 soapbox races around the globe, including South Africa, Australia and Jamaica. The outrageous vehicles have brought imagination to life, with previous designs including a rodeo clown, a giant corn on the cob and a realistic replica of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Set to attract thousands of spectators, this unique event will see one team take home the top prize, a tour of the Red Bull Racing factory.
