|Heritage Opera kick off the 2013 season with a perennial favourite
“Figaro, Figaro, Figaro!”
What do you do if the girl you love is locked up all day by her grumpy guardian? You might enlist the help of the local ‘fixer’, a dodgy barber called Figaro, who suggests that you try ridiculous disguises to get nearer to your beloved. It turns out that the simple solution is never the best one in Rossini’s madcap opera, full of fabulous melodies, crazy characters and zany situations.
Heritage Opera, since 2006 the only company bringing professional opera to the people of Wigan, present The Barber of Seville, set in 19th century Seville, sung in a brand new English translation, with a cast of 9 professional singers, and accompanied by piano.
